Guernsey is a Crown Dependency — not in the EU and not part of the United Kingdom — so neither roam-like-at-home nor a British domestic allowance covers it. Plans from both sides are full-rate roaming here, which surprises visitors from both.
Coverage on the island itself is good throughout, and the same applies to Alderney, Herm and Sark to a lesser degree.
The sea crossings are the gap: the ferries to Jersey, Sark and Saint-Malo lose signal mid-channel, and a phone near Jersey will sometimes register there instead, which is again a separate jurisdiction on the bill.
